Job Description: Line Clearance Journeyman
Work involves the responsibility for clearing of new rights of way and easements, the maintenance of existing rights of way and easements and the removal or disposal of refuse created by the projects. Work is under the general direction of the Line Clearance Foreman and is reviewed through evaluations by the Manager of Operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proficient at cutting and trimming of trees and other vegetation in the path of new and existing transmission and distribution lines.
Assists in the removal and disposal of refuse created by trimming and clearing.
Maintains tools and equipment related to clearing and trimming work.
Provides assistance to line crews during joint clearing and line building projects.
Performs related work as required.
Graduation from high school or vocational school or equivalent; or any combination of training and experience that will provide the following:
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions related to tree clearing and trimming.
Knowledge of available safety equipment and ability to instruct others in its proper use.
Knowledge of departmental policies related to clearing and trimming.
Ability to supervise the work of crew members in the absence of Line Clearance Foreman.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees, department officials and the general public.
Ability to perform arduous physical tasks.
